We have become a major force as a heavy civil contractor, with particular emphasis on the transportation field. Tutor-Saliba is a top 10 transportation contractor ranked by Engineering News Record. Transportation projects undertaken include highways, bridges, tunnels, transit, railroad, ports & harbors, and airside aviation. In addition, we excel in water and wastewater projects such as treatment plants, conveyance, and dams.
Among the recent major heavy civil projects are the $762 million Richmond/San Rafael Bridge Retrofit a seismic retrofit of 4.5-mile-long bridge with two spans across shipping channels representing the longest steel bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area; $228 million I-80 West Approach to Bay Bridge a seismic safety project to rebuild and reinforce the major freeway artery through downtown San Francisco; $155 million Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant involving the construction of major waste water treatment plant expansion; $925 million Los Angeles Metro Rail Stations and Tunnels including construction of 10 individual underground stations and adjacent driven tunnels; $106 million MUNI Metro Turnback Facility with twin steel-lined tunnels driven under compressed air; and $20 million Seven Oaks Dam Outlet Works/Diversion Tunnel a conventional drill and blast tunnel that resulted in Tutor-Saliba being awarded the Civil Works Construction Contractor of the Year by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
