Chief Estimator, Building Division

Location:

Sylmar, CA

Essential Duties:

Read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications in order to formulate and create bidding top sheet, General Conditions, concrete estimates and scopes of subcontractors. Prepare all bid documents, write post-bid subcontracts and set-up cost budgets.

Skills / Experience:

Must be an aggressive, organized and thorough person able to read, analyze, interpret and obtain a through understanding of contract proposals (hard bid and GMP).  Must have knowledge of building cost estimating methods and procedures, construction budgeting methods and procedures, value engineering principles and methods, building materials, types of buildings, and construction methods, current labor (including prevailing wages) and material costs in the construction industry.  Must be computer literate (Excel, Word), possess good communication skills to effectively solicit and work with project owner’s representatives, subcontractors and material suppliers in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations.

Education:

Degree recommended, but not required.
