Tutor-Saliba recognized for local hire achievement

Los Angeles, CA (March 18, 2008) The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works presented Tutor-Saliba with a Certificate of Recognition for outstanding achievement with the local hire program. The certificate reads:

“For the dedication, commitment and team spirit demonstrated to achieve 41 percent local hire and 26 percent apprenticeship hire goals during the construction of the Police Administration Building.

“The 30 percent local hire goal was exceeded at 51 percent completion of the project.

“Congratulation on making a different in contributing to the City of Los Angeles’ economic development efforts by providing local hire and apprenticeship opportunities to the City’s residents, thereby making the City’s local hire program successful.”

The Los Angeles Police Administration Building is an 11-story, 500,000-square-foot building consisting of office space for over 2,100 police personnel, a helipad, Board of Commission hearing room, locker facilities, and two levels of underground parking for approximately 350 spaces. The project also includes a 400-seat auditorium, cafeteria, memorial garden, additional retail space, and the widening of 2nd Street. Landscaping, which includes 140 new trees, will be installed throughout and around the perimeter of the site, encompassing the 2nd Street green space and 1st Street public plaza. Scheduled project completion is June 2nd, 2009.
